Wind Atlas for the Languedoc-Roussillon Region

The wind atlas is a preliminary step toward the strategic development of wind-generated power for the region.

If the wind resources map constitutes the key component, it must also reflect many different constraints (environmental issues and regulations, electrical networks, power lines, and air traffic). GIS is well suited to the task, but faced with the complexity of analyzing the wind, it became apparent that a specialized application was needed that combined performance and usability—GeoWind.

Developed for ArcView by La Compagnie du Vent, the GeoWind application instantly calculates the wind potential for any given region. It also analyzes multiple criteria or statistics for a user-defined area.
