The Rampart Range Motorized Recreation Area is within 15 miles of the Denver metropolitan area. EDAW worked with the U.S. Forest Service to prepare a plan for off-highway vehicle (OHV) use in this portion of the Pike National Forest, which encompasses 91,000 acres. The overall goal of the plan is to improve the visitor experience and natural resource conditions.

Through workshops, EDAW worked closely with the public, user groups, and other agencies. The result was an Environmental Assessment, Biological Assessment, Roads Assessment, and Roads and Trails Plan, which resulted in an increase in miles of nonmotorized trails and the creation of new contiguous nonmotorized areas for wildlife preservation.
