The California Department of Transportation’s North Region Office of Surveyors, in cooperation with the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) and the California Spatial Reference Center (CSRC), has completed the horizontal component of a Height Modernization Survey covering 22 northern California counties.

Height modernization is a high-priority initiative with both NGS and CSRC. The network of more than 800 stations achieved Order B horizontal accuracy at an average spacing of seven kilometers along all state highway corridors in the north region. Stations in the project will be included in the national readjustment scheduled to be completed by NGS in February 2007.
