Applied Geographics, Inc., was contracted to provide the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (MCZM) with GIS data research, collection, automation, standardization, and metadata development services. The datasets all relate to human uses of the coastal zone. About 50 types of data were researched and documented, and about 20 were prioritized for collection and conversion to MCZM standards for delivery. The human-use GIS data included dredging and dredge spoil areas, cruise ship berthing, motor and sailboat registrations, marinas, yacht clubs, mooring areas, dredge spoil sites, water taxi stops, and recreational dive sites.
