The Columbia Land Trust is currently updating its five-year conservation plan with the assistance of CommEn Space. The plan incorporates data on species distribution, habitat types, protected lands, and development threat and will be used by the land trust to prioritize its conservation activities. Using data produced by the Northwest Habitat Institute, CommEn Space analyzed the extent and conservation status of the 24 habitat types located within the Columbia Land Trust study area. Eleven habitat types cover less than 0.5 percent of the study area, and an additional five cover between 0.5 and 1.0 percent. This map shows which watersheds contain the most unprotected rare habitat based on the sum of the proportion of unprotected habitat across all rare habitat types. This map does not show the variety of rare habitat types within each watershed.
