The Lebanon Humanitarian Situation Map was produced in August 2006 during the weeks of the cross-border crisis as part of a situation map series linked to the Humanitarian Situation Reports released by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Such public maps are core products of the ReliefWeb Map Centre in supporting the United Nations (UN) humanitarian response in case of conflicts or natural disasters; these map products are widely disseminated and often the first and very timely source for response and decision making during the early stages of a humanitarian emergency. The Chad Humanitarian Profile Map is part of a relatively new set of products developed by the ReliefWeb Map Centre and is aimed primarily for outreach and to provide a concise illustration of complex emergencies or natural disasters in countries or regions around the world. The production involves extensive data research and liaison with field offices and other UN agencies for access to the latest relevant information to be mapped or illustrated with well-targeted information graphics. It is a map product very well received by the UN and external partner users in the humanitarian community. Please visit www.reliefweb.int for more information.
