Using ArcGIS to develop, analyze, and prepare GIS data for the Quantm route optimization software, PB assisted the Texas Department of Transportation in determining the best location for the development of Interstate 69 (I-69) within the state limits. I-69 is a planned 1,600-mile national highway connecting Mexico, Canada, and the United States, with eight states involved in the project. In Texas, I-69 will be developed under the Trans-Texas Corridor master plan. The route optimization program utilizes environmental, cultural, and community GIS data combined with engineering design and costing data to evaluate and rank all possible route alternatives according to preestablished evaluation criteria.
