As part of a basinwide hydrogeologic investigation, this groundwater flow model was developed for an area in northwestern Arizona. The model is used as a tool to predict the impact of potential groundwater demands in the basin. In the past, hydrogeologic data used to construct the model would be prepared in spreadsheets and ASCII data files before importing the properties into the pre- and postprocessing software called Groundwater Vistas. Groundwater Vistas now has the ability to use shapefiles for all modeling datasets. ArcGIS is used to provide a central location for spatial data storage, preparation, surface calculations, and analysis of model results.
