Uttar Pradesh, a state in Northern India, is home to a unique physical landscape, ancient culture, and economic vitality. The objective of the Uttar Pradesh State Atlas is to provide an assessment of available natural resources and to provide a basis for economic and commercial cooperation among the many districts in the state. The atlas has been prepared and produced entirely in a digital workflow, which is a first among National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO) publications. A majority of it was designed on a uniform scale of 1:2,000,000 and includes maps of seasonal rainfall and growth of population, which are represented at 1:4,000,000. The atlas is based on the data collected from various departments of Uttar Pradesh state government, Census of India, Geological Survey of India, NATMO, Survey of India, and other extensive field surveys. All 36 maps have been organized into six sections where users can use the information and the themes for analyzing and planning. These sections include maps on physical geography, climate, agriculture and irrigation, population, mineral and industry, and infrastructure. Copyright Government of India, 2006. |
