This 434-page publication of Qatar National Atlas primarily focuses on the results of the General Population and Housing Census conducted by the Statistical Department in the Planning Council of the state of Qatar in 2004. The latest census results are analyzed and compared with the previous censuses held in 1986 and 1997 at different levels of administrative hierarchy and statistical data units. The atlas is divided into two parts. The first half of the atlas contains 82 thematic maps on administrative setup, physiographic conditions, buildings, services and infrastructure, housing and households, as well as population characteristics, agriculture, industry, and trade including tourism. A brief interpretation of each theme is included along with summary tables, diagrams, and images. The second half of the atlas contains useful geographic information presented through 234 topographic map sheets referring to the main built-up areas of the country, at a scale of 1:5,000. An index of map sheets and a legend are presented at the beginning of the atlas. The main street names in Arabic and English and some useful landmarks are also shown on the maps.
