Tasmanian Map Book

The Tasmanian Map Book was produced to assist emergency managers and responders. The series consists of more than 400 maps and is contained in three books—North West Region, Northern Region, and Southern Region—relating to areas covered by the Tasmanian Fire Service.

The Tasmanian Map Book was created automatically using the most current and accurate digital data from Land Information System Tasmania, a multigovernment integrated land information infrastructure with a Web-based delivery system. The data depicts standard topographic map features such as roads, contours, rivers, lakes, built-up areas and vegetation, as well as some restricted data specifically for emergency services.

In addition to the map books, each map has been produced as a separate Adobe PDF file and is available for individual download and printing by emergency services personnel. Furthermore, an entire state map coverage has been created as an image catalogue and as one continuous Enhanced Compression Wavelet (ECW) raster for use with ArcGIS as a background image.
