October 2007 brought nine active wildfires to the San Diego County Region at one time. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) maintains a database of fire history for San Diego County dating back to 1910. Every summer, this database is updated with the previous year's fire perimeters.
Included on these maps are fire perimeters for the October 2007 fires. Advanced scripting techniques made it quick and easy to add the 100 years of map data together and produce a final result.
Both maps incorporate all wildfires and prescribed burns as reported to CAL FIRE from 1910 to 2007.
