Snohomish County, in compliance with the Washington State Growth Management Act, adopted Critical Area Regulations in 2007. This was to provide protection for critical resources such as wildlife, wetlands, and water supplies.
This volcanic hazards map is part of the Critical Areas Landslide, Erosion, and Volcanic Hazards Atlas. The atlas was created using ArcGIS software with the PLTS extension, incorporating data from file-based coverages, shapefiles, and ArcSDE geodatabases. Data layers for the fourteen-township map atlas include lahar (debris flow) hazard areas, erodible surficial geology, landslides, and slopes greater than 33 percent.
