These maps were created for Machado Lake's trash total maximum daily load monitoring and reporting plans and form part of the City of Torrance best management practices for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. One map scenario used detention basins for trash filtration and elimination from the system. The other map setting supported a proposal to install inserts in all catch basins, where trash quantities and filtration needs are related to broad land-use categories. The available GIS tools helped determine drainage acreages and number of catch basins in each drainage area for extraction into reports.
