Researchers sought to identify the preferential rehabilitation zone, the preferential development zone, and the zones that should be converted from farmland to forest or grass based on the Natural Ecosystems Assessment (N-ES-A) map. These zones should be developed and used preferentially.
They determined that degraded grassland at a high altitude with a slope greater than 25 degrees should be reforested on a north-facing slope, and grassland with a slope less than 25 degrees should be recovered with some protection measures. The study also concluded that cultivated land on a slope greater than 25 degrees should be planted with trees on north-facing slopes and grasses on south-facing slopes, and that current natural forests and grasslands should be protected continuously.
