The “Quantico Special” map was developed to supplement the existing “Military Installation Map (MIM)” for Marine Corps Base (MCB) Quantico. This map was created as an additional reference map for military units and governmental organizations who train in the Ranges and Training Area (RTA) on a daily basis.
This latest version of the “Quantico Special” map was finalized in June 2009 and has been widely distributed throughout MCB Quantico and beyond. The map includes updates to features within the installation boundary (e.g., new targets, training facilities, land acquisitions) as well as updates to surrounding community features (e.g., new roads, property parcels).
The “Quantico Special” map was produced in ArcGIS Desktop 9.2, using the Esri Maplex extension, and is drawn to a scale of 1:25,000. The legend provides Military Grid Reference System grids for key training facilities and landing zones throughout the RTA. This map will be updated on a regular basis to reflect the continued growth and expansion of MCB Quantico and the surrounding areas.
