Bahrain, an oil-rich archipelago of thirty-six islands, is located off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf. The Bahrain Economic Development Board and Ministry of Municipalities and Agricultural Affairs prepared the land-use strategy plan as part of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. This map describes the future land-use planning for development in Bahrain’s five governorates.
The plan, which looks to 2030 and beyond, calls for massive infrastructure development and special zones for industrial, commercial, tourism, and residential projects. It is a strategy for diversifying and stabilizing Bahrain’s economy.
