Wood Mackenzie

Wood Mackenzie, a global energy, metals, and mining research and consulting firm, has produced a detailed wall map showing producing basins and shale plays of the six regions within the continental United States: West Coast, Rocky Mountains, Mid-Continent, Gulf Coast, Northeast, and Permian. Within each region the following areas are outlined: oil or oil/gas field, gas or gas condensate, carbon dioxide field, and oil/gas bearing basin.

The map also shows further detail of towns, national and state boundaries, oil refineries, and gas processing plans. Finally, the map isolates and provides a larger-scale view of the five principal shale plays across the lower 48 regions. They are Woodford and Fayetteville, Marcellus, Haynesville, Barnett, and Bakken.
