This map of Africa was created using the United Nations 1:5,000,000 database, and was projected in Albers equal area to preserve the relative size of each nation. The insets contain ancillary information for specific UN needs. Country dial codes and time zones were also included to aid in daily work tasks. This map has been distributed to many UN offices. UN staff use this map as a reference for boundary representations, place names, and other elements that conform to official UN standards.
