Bay of Plenty Region 2006 Index of Deprivation by Area Unit by Population Density

This map uses an index of deprivation derived from the 2006 New Zealand census information to depict relative deprivation in the Bay of Plenty Region. The index of deprivation was compiled from nine components of the 2006 census, including income, home ownership, support, employment, qualifications, living space, telephone access, and vehicle access. The area unit color on the map indicates the deprivation index level, with green representing areas of less deprivation and red indicating areas of greater deprivation. The height of the area units shows population density calculated as area unit population/area (square kilometer).
