Three-Dimensional Geochemical Mapping Proof of Concept

U.S. Geological Survey

These are proof of concept images for 3D mapping of soil sample geochemistry along an east-west traverse across the Pebble Porphyry Cu-Au-Mo deposit in southwest Alaska. The method arrays symbolized geochemical layers in space and connects the symbols to the ground sample site via thin rods.

Advantages include allowing the simultaneous visualization of multiple geochemical layers, explora-tion of diverse elemental relationships in a spatial context, and identification of sample sites with anomalous values across element suites.
