These maps show the average monthly precipitation (mm) and all tropical storms recorded, by month, between 1956 and 2009 for the Asia-Pacific region. They serve as an early warning tool so disaster responders can anticipate and proactively prepare for storm seasons. The maps also show what the "normal" or expected amount of precipitation should be throughout the year.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is the arm of the UN Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response effort.
