The Kittatinny Trails Map Set consists of four maps that show detailed topography and all trails along the Kittatinny Ridge in northwestern New Jersey. Four major parks are shown, including the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and over 50 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Twenty-foot contours and a universal transverse Mercator coordinate grid overlay make these maps an excellent resource for hiking and other outdoor recreation. A 50-mile section of the Delaware River is also represented, complete with river mileages, rapids, and other features.
The mapset was produced by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, a nonprofit organization composed primarily of volunteers enthusiastic about trails. Volunteers logged more than 400 hours walking the trails with GPS receivers to obtain accurate trail data for this map set. The Trail Conference has developed a stylistic standard based upon nearly forty years of trail mapping experience. Numerous maps covering other parks in the New York-New Jersey area follow this same style.
