Announcing MapObjects 2.2--Windows Edition

Users licensed for MapObjects 2.1 and covered by maintenance on or after March 31, 2002, will receive the 2.2 upgrade at no charge.

In fall 2002, Esri will release a new version of MapObjects, its powerful collection of embeddable mapping and GIS components.

One of the highlights of MapObjects 2.2 is that it offers support for Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft's development environment for .NET software and services. Included with Visual Studio .NET support are sample applications and useful documentation. Other key features in MapObjects 2.2 include tracking layer smoothing, an improved projection engine (along with new formats), and enhanced labeling. MapObjects users will also benefit from the elimination of the separate end user license and fee requirements previously required to read GIF and TIFF LZW images.
