Esri China (Hong Kong) to Host First Asia-Pacific Conference for Esri Users

The First Asia-Pacific Conference for Esri Users will be held January 12–13, 2006, at Cyberport in Hong Kong. logoThe theme of the conference is GIS Sustaining the World's Fastest Growing Region. The conference will bring together Esri users in the Asia Pacific region to learn about the latest developments in Esri's software and technologies and to share ideas, experiences, and best practices of GIS and its various applications in the Asia Pacific region.

The first day of the conference will begin with a welcoming speech by Dr. Winnie Tang, CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong) Limited, followed by an opening presentation by Jack Dangermond, Esri president. There will be a preview and demonstration of Esri's latest GIS technology, then a series of keynote addresses by well-known professionals in the industry, including Professor Mike Batty, University College London, UK; Professor Jun Chen, president, National Geomatics Center of China; Dr. Adam Lewis, group leader, Geospatial and Earth Monitoring Division, Geoscience Australia; Professor Michael Lightner, president-elect, IEEE, USA; Dr. David Maguire, director of products, Esri; and Professor Anthony Yeh, secretary-general, Asia GIS Association.

Technical sessions will be led by product experts and will provide an excellent opportunity to learn detailed information about using ArcGIS software. User presentation sessions will feature analysts, developers, managers, and industry experts who will share insights into their applications and projects. Users from different industries will demonstrate how ArcGIS enables them to improve their workflow and problem-solving skills. Business partners and many other GIS-related technology companies will showcase their GIS solutions in the Exhibit Hall.

Pre- and postconference training will provide attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest Esri technologies.

In addition, the conference will offer attendees numerous sightseeing excursions to choose from, including Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong day tour and night cruise, and Macao.

The event will be held at Cyberport, Hong Kong, which is Hong Kong's flagship information technology infrastructure project consisting of many multinational and well-known IT corporations. Discounted accommodation rates are available to conference registrants.
