ESRI President Jack Dangermond to Deliver Keynote Address at GeoWeb 2007

Redlands, California—Jack Dangermond, ESRI president, will deliver the keynote address on the third day of the GeoWeb 2007 Conference, which will take place in Vancouver, Canada, July 23–27. The conference will focus on the merging of cutting-edge Web mapping technologies with the geospatial industry. Dangermond's address will cover the significant role that Web services play in delivering geographic information system (GIS) technology to users worldwide.

"GeoWeb is evolving into a multiuser, collaborative framework that leverages the Web as a powerful platform for geocomputing." says Dangermond. "With the advent of new enabling technologies, coupled with ready-to-use applications such as those that come with ArcGIS Server, geospatial analysis on the Web is being redefined."

The principal theme of the conference, From Mashups to Infrastructure, speaks to the evolution and growing maturity of the GeoWeb. Today, it is now a key component in critical decision making across a broad spectrum of market segments and application domains. More than simply mapping on the Web, GeoWeb supports true Internet-based GIS services that can be consumed in a variety of different applications by users and developers of all skill levels.

GeoWeb is being used to help organizations replace outdated and complex decision-making systems with intuitive and easy-to-use systems. For example, in the commercial real estate industry, ESRI GIS technology is providing intuitive and easy-to-use Web-based systems that provide access to demographic and population information in a user-friendly manner. This helps close hundreds of millions of dollars in commercial transactions every month.
