Learn to Use the New Role-Based Security Features for ArcGIS Server 9.3 for the Java Platform

A Complimentary ESRI Web Seminar Outlines the Administrative Options

Redlands, California—ESRI will host an online live training seminar this month that will demonstrate how to set security options for geographic information system (GIS) services and Web applications for ArcGIS Server 9.3 for the Java platform.

The live training seminar Implementing Security for ArcGIS Server 9.3 Java Solutions will air on ESRI's Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/lts on September 25, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. (Pacific daylight time).

At version 9.3, ArcGIS Server uses a role-based security model that lets you define a set of users and assign permissions to them based on their roles and grant them access to GIS services and Web applications. The seminar's presenters will introduce the new methods of establishing and managing security in ArcGIS Server 9.3 using an intuitive graphical user interface in ArcGIS Server Manager. The presenters will discuss

  • The security model architecture
  • Options for storing users and roles
  • Configuring security for GIS services and Web applications using ArcGIS Server Manager
  • Consuming secured GIS services from different clients

This no-cost seminar is geared toward those who administer ArcGIS Server for the Java platform. Participants should be familiar with basic security concepts.

A broadband Internet connection and an ESRI Global Account are needed to watch the seminar. Creating a global account is easy and free; visit www.esri.com/lts, click Login, and register your name and address. A few weeks after the live presentation, the seminar will be archived and available for viewing on the ESRI Training and Education Web site at www.esri.com/lts.
