Information Builders' Summit 2006 User Conference
ESRI will exhibit at Summit 2006 User Conference April 23–27 in Orlando, Florida. ESRI will be demonstrating high-value GIS applications that are now available to Information Builders' users. Information Builders will be demonstrating how ESRI provides The Geographic Advantage for location intelligence via their new integration with ESRI's ArcGIS Server utilizing the iWay framework of connectors and enterprise service bus. ASUG and SAPPHIRE '06 Orlando
ESRI will exhibit at Americas' SAP Users' Group (ASUG) and SAPPHIRE, which are both being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. ASUG will be held May 15–16, followed by SAPPHIRE, May 16–18. At both shows the ESRI staff will be demonstrating our latest solutions for SAP integration. SAS® Forum International Geneva 2006
ESRI will exhibit at SAS Forum International, May 16–18, in Geneva, Switzerland, to demonstrate The Geographic Advantage provided by integrated SAS and ESRI applications. The SAS BI Server and Enterprise BI Server now have the ability to leverage advanced analytics provided by ESRI's ArcGIS Server. Viewing discrete customer and client characteristics on a map, optimizing delivery routes, and analyzing location-influenced risk are just a few examples of how the location content of SAS data can be leveraged to make more informed and actionable decisions. First Annual ESRI Developer Summit Huge Success

The final counts are in, and ESRI is pleased to announce that more than 750 people attended the first ESRI Developer Summit held March 17–18 in Palm Springs, California. We would like to thank our sponsors IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, and Safe Software for helping to make this event such a success. ESRI's Newest Distributor Helps in the Rebuilding and Rehabilitation of Afghanistan
GeoVision, the new GIS division of Afghan IT company Liwal Ltd., recently joined ESRI's International Distributor Program and has now committed itself to active participation in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan. It has forged a strong relationship with the Afghanistan Information Management Service (AIMS) and is now exploring the possibility of working with AIMS to implement GIS throughout the country's public and private sector.

Atlas for GIS and Surveying Systems Co. Ltd. New ESRI Software Distributor in Iraq
Atlas for GIS and Surveying Systems Co. Ltd., a former ESRI user, is now a distributor for ESRI's GIS software in Iraq. Atlas' extensive efforts to implement the technology throughout the Republic of Iraq have led to the recent creation of a national GIS center, and they now have more than 30 public- and private-sector clients as users.

New ESRI Industry Solutions Managers

We are excited to announce two new members of the Industry Solutions marketing team.

John Bernie is our new GEOINT specialist on the defense team. He comes to ESRI from Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, where he worked as a management consultant in marketing operations. Before earning an M.B.A., he gained a strong background in defense and intelligence, serving eight years as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, John's targeting specialization introduced him to GIS technology.

ESRI and STC Collaborate to Address Pandemic Influenza
Scientific Technologies Corporation (STC), an international public health information systems firm, in conjunction with ESRI, has developed a GIS-based exercise program to assess readiness and help prepare and develop an action plan in the event of an influenza pandemic in the United States. The program is designed to evaluate the operational readiness of public health agencies, schools, jails, transportation services, and other private and public organizations whose work, during a pandemic, will be severely disrupted.

Cobb County, Georgia, Creates a Geodatabase for Routing and Other Transportation Services Using GIS
The projected growth of Cobb County prompted the creation of a transportation geodatabase as part of a five-year, $5.2 million project to develop an enterprise GIS using ArcGIS, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE. The geodatabase will enable personnel to more efficiently dispatch emergency responders, track roads in need of repair, and plan trips for public transportation and senior services.

Zippy Names Permit Peek at Place Personalities
Puget Sound Business Journal, February 2, 2006—ESRI prepared a set of national psychodemographic neighborhood profiles of the Greater Puget Sound area. The colorful assortment of monikers used, including Laptops and Lattes and Wealthy Seaboard Suburbs, create a better understanding of the residents' lifestyles and retail preferences.
