Information Builders Names ESRI 2006 Partner of the Year
Information Builders announced ESRI, along with BearingPoint, Inc., and IBM, as winners of its 2006 Partner of the Year awards. ESRI's alliance with Information Builders was recognized as significantly increasing customers' ability to discover and deliver intelligence in spatially enabled applications. The three companies were all honored at Information Builders' 27th annual user conference, Summit 2006, held April 23–27 in Orlando, Florida.

The Practical Union of OLAP Analysis and Geographic Mapping
Two directors from SAS discuss the benefits of online analytical processing (OLAP) exploitation and suggest how these benefits can be extended to include geographic display and navigation. Combining OLAP with geographic mapping reveals new insight into business operations and decision making on future business directions.

ESRI and Trimble Announce the Launch of the 2006 Mobile Government Grant Program: Coastal Communities
ESRI and Trimble software, hardware, and training grants will be awarded to a total of 10 state, regional, and local governments within the United States. The grants, which total nearly $100,000, are open to all disciplines engaged in activities that serve coastal communities. Both companies recognize that coastal governments need support to address the distinctive issues they face in dealing with development, delivering public services, and developing sound environmental and conservation policies.

IID to Provide Seamless Data Access Using ESRI and SAP Technology
Imperial Irrigation District (IID), a community-owned utility, recently selected ESRI for its enterprise GIS platform. The GIS will fully interface with its SAP enterprise resource planning software and allow the organization to provide seamless data access to better manage current network maintenance, plan future growth, reduce costs, and improve overall customer service.

GIS Bolsters Delivery Efficiencies and Reduces Fuel Usage
Integrated Solutions, April 2006—Apex Office Supply, which serves 1,500 customers and makes approximately 200 deliveries per day, recently implemented ESRI's ArcLogistics Route software. This GIS-based route delivery system has refined the company's business processes, cutting its drive times by an impressive 7.4 percent and reducing fuel usage 4.3 percent.

Listening to the Land—The Role of GIS in Protecting the Intrinsic Landscape
For Puget Sound, Washington, GIS and modeling are protecting and restoring shorelines and open spaces. Groups, such as the Trust for Public Land, recognize the value of using GIS to "listen to the land" to better identify and prioritize which landscapes are most conducive to protection.

Daytona Beach, Florida, Races toward Enterprise GIS
The city of Daytona Beach's GIS team has been busy creating custom Web-based mapping applications utilizing ESRI's ArcIMS software. It has created multiple applications ranging from permitting for the water system utility group to code enforcement, zoning, and police and fire applications.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Simon Thompson to the Industry Solutions marketing team.

Simon Thompson has joined the industry team as commercial/business industry sector manager. Simon has more than 20 years of GIS industry experience predominantly in the enterprise arena. More than 15 of those years were spent at GenaMap as a senior executive of Genasys and founder/chief executive officer of GenaWare. Simon has focused on business-driven applications in a variety of industries including commercial/finance, telecom, transportation, military, and oil and gas. 2006 Electric and Gas User Group Conference
Call for Papers
The Electric and Gas User Group committee invites ESRI energy utility customers to submit topics for possible presentation at its annual conference, October 9–12, 2006, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Collaborating with your customers on a paper submission provides a unique way to showcase your products and services to the ESRI user community. The deadline to submit is July 28, 2006.

ESRI Health and Homeland Security GIS Summits
This year, the ESRI Health GIS Conference and the ESRI Homeland Security GIS Summit will take place concurrently October 23–26 in Denver, Colorado. Sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities for both the health and homeland conferences are still available. While these are two distinct conferences, the GIS Solutions EXPO will be open to attendees from both conferences, allowing you to reach a greater audience.
