NAVTEQ Supports ESRI Enterprise License Agreement for Small Governments
Seeking to provide maximum value to its users, NAVTEQ now offers a Small Municipal and County Street Data Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) as an accompaniment to the recently launched ESRI Small Municipality and County Government ELA program. Like ESRI's ELA, NAVTEQ's program is specifically targeted for small local municipalities and counties in the United States with populations of 100,000 or less and offers tiered pricing based on population. Governments that choose to acquire NAVTEQ's ELA will benefit from an inexpensive alternative to creating street data in-house, access to regularly updated street data, and the ability to use NAVTEQ data throughout an enterprise for desktop, server, and mobile applications
Tele Atlas and ESRI Team Up to Support GIS Education
For the sixth consecutive year, five educators will be selected to receive scholarships to attend the 2008 ESRI Education User Conference in San Diego, California. Tele Atlas has lent its support to this program, recognizing the important and unique role educators play in teaching youth, grades K-12, how GIS can be used to help solve many of the world's problems.
IBM Awards ESRI 2008 Public Sector Top Star
For the second consecutive year, ESRI has received IBM's Public Sector Top Star award. Presented at the 2008 IBM Business Partner Leadership Conference, ESRI was recognized for its "best of the best" business partner qualities and success in the marketplace. Award recipients are also selected based on achieving significant wins. ESRI and IBM shared such a win with their 2007 award of the Data Access and Dissemination II contract for the United States Census Bureau. IBM and ESRI's partnership of more than 20 years has resulted in innovative and cost-effective GIS solutions to the public sector.

Business Analyst Server Unveiled at Business GIS Summit
Attendees at the ESRI Business GIS Summit had the opportunity to explore the most recent addition to the Business Analyst product suite, Business Analyst Server. Using simple browser interfaces, users now experience organization-wide access to powerful GIS-enabled workflows, models, and analyses.
College Students Use Business Analyst Online in Central Michigan University Business Intelligence Competition
ESRI provided GIS software and staff to facilitate the GIS component of Central Michigan University's (CMU) recent business intelligence (BI) competition. Business Analyst Online was specifically selected by CMU because it is a true BI tool combined with GIS and effectively used in business decision making. Undergraduate and graduate teams, with little or no experience using GIS software, were given four hours to solve a business problem associated with site selection and submit an executive summary presentation, including maps, to a panel of judges.

GIS Offers Promise to Protect Oregon Caves
The National Park Service (NPS) at the Oregon Caves National Monument was challenged by damage that visitors were causing to their site. With the help of ESRI's ArcInfo and ArcPad software, NPS was able to determine the most vulnerable areas and take measures to avoid further damage from human impact.
Colorado Springs Utilities Implements ArcGIS Survey Analyst for Better Land Records Management
Since 1987, Colorado Springs Utilities has been using ESRI's ArcGIS to manage electric, natural gas, water, and wastewater services to customers in the Pikes Peak region of central Colorado. The recent incorporation of ESRI's ArcGIS Survey Analyst with Cadastral Editor software has improved the efficiency and accuracy of the utility's cadastral records and resulted in a more precise database. Most recently, in the evaluation of the sanitary sewer system infrastructure, more informed decisions were possible as a result of having updated and resolved GIS data anomalies, leading to better overall allocation of resources.
Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai
Wangari Maathai, Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and founder of the Green Belt Movement (GBM), was the keynote speaker at the 2007 ESRI International User Conference. GBM employs GIS to create basemap surveys, perform periodic site monitoring, identify threatened areas, and monitor and validate its biocarbon products. In her 2007 keynote address, Maathai explained that the visualization capabilities of GIS technology have enabled Kenyan government leaders to clearly see where the forests need restoration and provide support for that work. The story of her 30-year journey to protect the environment and improve the lives of women in Kenya's rural areas by rehabilitating the land is now told on video. View the video.

ESRI ArcGIS and ArcMap Software Facilitate Management of Property Data in Florida Keys
The Florida Keys, a chain of 822 individual islands that attracts thousands of new residents each year, represented a serious mapping challenge for Monroe County surveyors and planners. ArcGIS software, utilizing the county's existing basemap imagery, enabled the development of a precise basemap of the region, something critical to effectively managing the area's resources.
