    • British Waterways (BW), a public corporation, manages more than 2,000 miles of canals and rivers in England, Scotland, and Wales, together with all the assets comprising those waterways. The integrated system provides a uniquely powerful tool for managing and visualizing their asset information.
  • Denmark's Largest Electricity Company Implements Enterprise GIS
    • Integrated system includes: SAP’s R/3 Plant Maintenance, Miner and Miner’s ArcFM, and ESRI’s ArcGIS.
    • NESA, as a lead player in Denmark’s deregulated electricity market, serves a population of nearly one million and has nearly 550,000 customers around greater Copenhagen. Implementing the extensive GIS infrastructure has allowed NESA to expand its customer service, introduce streamlined working procedures, improve its earning potential, and secure greater value for its owners.

    • The City of San Antonio is completing an installation of SAP data warehousing software as part of the Enterprise Resource Management (ERM) project. The SAP Business Warehouse team is the reporting arm of the project and needed to develop a way to display the city's data on maps.
  • Forestry Innovation Clears Logjam
    • Integrated system includes: SAP financial management system, SAP and Numetrics planning systems, and ESRI's GIS.
    • Carter Holt Harvey Forests has 330,000 hectares [815,430 acres] under cultivation, making it the largest owner and manager of plantation forests in New Zealand. It harvests 5 million tons a year. The company expects to pay off a $7 million supply chain project within two years through cost savings and making better use of its logs.
  • AlintaGas, Australia [PDF]
    • Integrated system includes: SAP ERP Plant Maintenance module, customized ESRI GIS software called Gas Network Information System consisting of ArcFM and ArcFM Viewer and ArcSDE.
    • The Australian company distributes gas to approximately 400,000 residential, business and industrial customers throughout Western Australia . The integrated system provides a seamless transition to end users and improves the overall efficiency of the AlintaGas business processes.
  • City of Richmond, California

    • The City of Richmond has 100,000 residents, 1,200 employees and a shifting economic landscape. City officials wanted to advance business processes across all city departments and especially support city finance and community development as well as improve communications and services to its citizens.
  • City of San Diego Street Divisions, California [PDF]
    • Integrated system includes: SAP ERP and ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop and ArcIMS.
    • The Street Division employs more than 350 people and maintains 2,863 miles of streets and 5,000 miles of sidewalk. The integrated system improves productivity, increases efficiency and improves record management along with allowing the city to provide excellent customer service to its citizens.
  • Electrical Utility Company (case study) [PDF]

    • The case study describes an application that was developed for an electrical utility company to validate street address inputs associated with various work management transactions. The application can be utilized to decrease field maintenance crew equipment costs and increase productivity.
  • German Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV), Germany [PDF]
    • Integrated system includes: SAP ERP Real Estate module, SAP Business Workflow and ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop.
    • The WSV owns the country's waterways and is responsible for inland and maritime shipping. An integrated real estate application was developed to manage its many properties previously managed through local and regional offices that deployed a variety of software systems.
  • Hamburg Department of Sanitation, Germany
    • Integrated system includes: SAP ERP Utilities for Waste Management and ESRI's ArcView, ArcSDE, and MapObjects.
    • Provides services to a population of nearly 2 million residents who annually produce close to 2 billion pounds of waste. Up until 2000, the department had three separate systems for managing work order data and billing processing of commercial, technical and logistic data.
  • Norwegian Consortium Integrates Databases [PDF]
    • Integrated system includes: SAP ERP Project System module, ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop and ArcSDE, CIS and SCADA.
    • GeoNIS is a consortium of three Norwegian electrical distribution companies that together serve more than 550,000 customers. The integration has greatly improved the capabilities and efficiency of their logistics and work order management.

  • Pidpa, Belgium

    • The Belgium water company provides drinking water to more than 1.1 million customers within its 2,581 square kilometer service area. Integrating GIS with other information systems – enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer information system (CIS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) was essential to the implementation of a new maintenance and management system.
