SAP's Sagres Project Links GIS to Database Info
SAP NetWeaver Magazine, Spring 2007SAP Labs in Palo Alto, California, launched the Sagres Project to explore the technical and sales potential of more tightly integrating the SAP NetWeaver platform with GIS applications. San Diego, California, USA, and the Port of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, are pilots for this project, testing the visualization technology that represents municipal resources, such as streetlights, fire hydrants, and sewer lines, on GIS maps and links the icons to complete structured databases that run behind the scenes. This technology will allow fast access to the information repair technicians need to quickly fix a service outage or perform other services that keep cities and ports running smoothly.
