Segmentation Tool Accurately Identifies Customer and Prospect Types
Organizations can now more accurately identify their most profitable customer and prospect types, including where they live, what products and services they buy, and which marketing methods they respond to, by using ESRI's ArcGIS Business Analyst Segmentation Module. The Segmentation Module integrates with well-proven ArcGIS Business Analyst desktop software, enabling organizations to generate specialized market segmentation reports by geographic area, such as ZIP Codes and block groups. With the Segmentation Module, organizations can identify the customer segments that promise the highest return on investment (ROI) from marketing campaigns, allowing them to fine-tune and focus their marketing and merchandising strategies on these profitable segments.

GIS Helps Multiple Agencies Respond to Southern California Fires
GIS software and services from ESRI are helping local, state, and federal agencies with multiple tasks surrounding the recent firestorms in Southern California. Similar to previous efforts for the Zaca fire as well as the large-scale California fires of 2003, ESRI provided staffing, ArcGIS software, and other resources during the fires and continues to provide support as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other agencies assess the damage and impact of the firestorm. More than a dozen wildfires in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties resulted in half a million evacuees, hundreds of thousands of acres burned, and thousands of properties destroyed.

Software to Help State Find Abducted Children
Daily Herald, October 8, 2007 - The statewide Child Abduction Response Team (CART) in Utah recently started using ESRI's ArcGIS software. The GIS software will allow the team to use more detailed strategies and better organization during searches for abducted children or other missing people. "It's like Google Earth, only better," said Bill Fossmo, a CART analyst. "It gives you the same aerial perspective, but allows you to put layers of information on top of those aerial photographs so you can learn more about your crime scene."
