Center for Image Processing in Education Inc CIPE

Company Info

Established in 2003, Science Approach (SA) is the successor company to the Center for Image Processing in Education (CIPE). SA is a small business located in Tucson, Arizona. SA's staff includes instructional material developers, programmers, and business administration personnel. SA's mission is to help teachers and students use computers to explore data, conduct scientific investigations, and make decisions about real-world issues. In support of this mission, SA offers professional development workshops for K–14 educators and develops instructional materials that employ ESRI's ArcView 3.x, ArcExplorer—Java Edition for Education, and other ArcGIS software as tools for learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Developed with funding from the National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Geographic Society, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and National Institutes of Health, the workshops and instructional materials are sold by SA to teachers, schools, school districts, and undergraduate institutions. SA's ready-to-implement lessons help students use ESRI software to think geographically; conduct research with geospatial data; and learn about their home communities, planet Earth, and other countries. Each SA product includes a lesson book and a CD-ROM. All lessons are correlated to national science, technology, and geography standards. Technical support for SA's GIS materials is provided online and by e-mail.
