MapWare is a map viewing and selection tool that bridges the gap between GIS spatial data and its Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) product, RealWare, by linking the client’s GIS map base to RealWare. As parcels are selected in MapWare, they are imported into RealWare for update and/or analysis for batch updates. MapWare gives the user the option to either select parcels one at a time or through the use of bonding boxes or shapes to select multiple parcels. Data can then be verified visually on the map before updating information such as neighborhood boundary changes, land adjustments, or attributes. This provides confidence when updating data. Users have the option of exporting accounts from RealWare into MapWare, which provides the ability to analyze sales ratios by color ramping ratios to highlight hot spots, geographically examine the physical location of comparable sales, and identify neighborhoods. MapWare also has features such as full extent, map extent, zoom in, zoom out, and pan to give great flexibility in analyses. Finally, users can turn orthophotography behind the map layers to see footprints of buildings and identify building counts. MapWare is developed using ArcObjects and ArcView 8. As Colorado CustomWare partners with ESRI and uses GIS to enhance CAMA, it invites exploration of the benefits of an integrated CAMA and GIS application.
