Land Records™ is an integrated suite of software applications designed to automate the work flow and data management needs within a clerk’s or recorder’s office. Land Records is a full-function document recording and indexing system that also supports cashiering, scanning, reporting, and easy-to-use public access on a local network and the Internet. Land record management is very important to GIS because the clerk’s or recorder’s office is where GIS begins in local government. Land records are the legal documents that drive changes in parcel geometry and attribution and are easily linked to the Land Records parcel map display window that is powered by MapObjects. It is possible to extend the value of land records management to all local government departments by integrating Land Records with other information technology systems such as the tax assessment, permit tracking, and parcel editor components of the Local Government Office (LGO) solution offered by NovaLIS Technologies.
