Farmland Assessment and Report Management System (FARMS™ ) is a GIS solution developed by Sidwell to help assessment officials in their quest to more efficiently calculate valuations for the agricultural parcels within their jurisdictions. FARMS operates on ArcMap 9.3.1, licensed at the ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo level. Features of Sidwell's FARMS application include • User-defined tolerances to easily identify discrepancies between assessed and measured acreages • The capability to create customized thematic maps for presentation purposes • The ability to generate detailed valuation reports based on soil types, land uses, and parcel acreages • The ability to normalize acreage discrepancies with logical error redistribution • The capability to set spot symbol placements and record-related comments for each parcel • Simple data export to various formats to facilitate complete system integration A true GIS-based solution to farmland assessment, FARMS calculates precise acreage measurements for every unique combination of parcel, soil type, and any other user-defined land classification layers. The resulting acreage calculations are then processed against jurisdiction-specific valuation methodology to arrive at the appropriate final assessment value. Users can report the acreages and/or values at any stage of the process and export the data into a variety of formats to fit their needs.
