Latitude Geographics Announces Geocortex Essentials 1.1, Built with ESRI's ArcGIS Server

Victoria, British Columbia—Latitude Geographics, a leading Internet geography applications provider, announces Geocortex Essentials 1.1, an extension to ESRI's ArcGIS Server and Web Application Developer Framework (ADF).

Geocortex Essentials is engineered from the ground up as extension software for ESRI's ArcGIS Server 9.2 and ADF technologies. Developed in .NET and designed to extend and complement the process of building ArcGIS Server applications, Geocortex Essentials provides cutting-edge tools, processes, and features to simplify the process of creating and managing multiple applications and provide ArcGIS Server developers a powerful jump start when implementing their Web-based geographic information system.

ArcGIS Server is a comprehensive Web-based geographic information system (GIS) that comes with out-of-the-box end user applications and services for spatial data management, visualization, and spatial analysis. The entire enterprise can take advantage of the extensive GIS capabilities made available via ArcGIS Server without having to install any special software on the client and without special GIS training required on the part of the end user.

"It is clear that organizations are recognizing the value of ESRI's Application Developer Framework, which is ESRI's development foundation for the future, so we've invested more than 5,000 hours of development to create core tools and streamline the process of building real-world ArcGIS Server applications using the .NET version of Web ADF," notes David Stevenson, CTO of Latitude Geographics.

Latitude Geographics is the first Web GIS firm to release a software product to enhance the powerful ADF foundation provided by ESRI. "We expect Geocortex Essentials will appeal primarily to organizations that wish to remain closely aligned with ESRI's ongoing technology direction," continues Stevenson. "As ADF evolves, Geocortex Essentials will grow and expand with it—without having to reinvent the wheel or play catch-up."

"Our goal is to make ArcGIS Server as 'out-of-the-box' as possible for developers and implementers," explains Steven Myhill-Jones, president and CEO of Latitude Geographics. "A Geocortex Essentials license provides an immediate and compelling return on investment, and that value will continually increase as Geocortex Essentials, Web ADF, and ArcGIS Server evolve."

"Once again Latitude Geographics has demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of Internet-based mapping and GIS," said Alex Miller, president, ESRI Canada Limited. "With the release of their Geocortex Essentials 1.1 extension for ArcGIS Server, they've simplified the process of creating custom Web applications. Organizations looking to deploy their GIS over the Web will be able to do it very quickly and efficiently."
