CommunityViz Version 3.3 ReleasedBoulder, Colorado (USA),—Placeways, LLC, and the Orton Family Foundation announced the release of Version 3.3 of CommunityViz®, the ArcGIS extension for land-use planning. CommunityViz software is used by planners and resource managers around the world for scenario analysis and 3D visualization. Its low prices are made possible by the Orton Family Foundation. The new release of CommunityViz makes it easier than ever to visualize, analyze, and communicate about decisions regarding how communities will grow and how land will be used over time. The most anticipated feature of Version 3.3 is the new Land Use Designer, a tool that instantly and automatically calculates a wide variety of socioeconomic and environmental impacts from proposed land uses that are “painted” onto a map of the area being studied. Land use impact models can be chosen from a predefined library or customized and tailored as desired. In addition, the new version includes new features for 3D visualization, additional kinds of analysis, and new media for communication with wide audiences. In keeping with the longtime CommunityViz philosophy, a collection of customer-requested improvements to existing functions is also included in the release. Version 3.3 upgrades complement popular existing CommunityViz features like the build-out wizard and the site suitability analyzer. Placeways says it is now shipping the new version and that current CommunityViz customers with support contracts will be receiving free upgrade notices over the next several weeks.
