North Haven, CT Selects ViewPermitT for Online Permit System
BELMONT, MA June 1, 2011 - ViewPoint GIS announced today that the Town of North Haven, CT has officially selected ViewPermitT for its new GIS-based online electronic permit management system.
ViewPermitT will allow residents and businesses to apply, pay for, and receive building and other permits and licenses online. They may also track the status of their permits as they move through a paperless approval process.
Town departments will use the system to manage permit and license review, approval, and inspections processes electronically. The Town plans to use ViewPermitT in all permitting and licensing entities.
North Haven's First Selectman Michael J. Freda stated "this will add ease, simplicity and timeliness to the permit process. Customers will no longer be required to walk permits from Department to Department for sign-off. All will be addressed and coordinated electronically."
Added Selectman Freda, "we continue to seek and implement improvements to all of our Town customer service functions. In order to meet and exceed customer expectations and to compensate for our reduced work force, we must look for a more efficient means of response, such as the use of technology and automation."
North Haven joins other Connecticut communities already using ViewPermitT for online permitting as part of the Connecticut Regional E-Government Initiative sponsored by the Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG). The regional approach maximizes operational benefits, cost savings, and citizen satisfaction. Although originating with communities in CRCOG's Hartford region, the agreement between CRCOG and ViewPoint GIS was crafted to allow other Connecticut municipalities to participate. The initiative continues to expand as more communities deploy ViewPermitT.
"Using CRCOG's ViewPermit program, many communities have improved customer service and made the overall permitting process more efficient," said Pauline Yoder, CRCOG Special Projects Manager. "ViewPermit's front-end web-base is very easy to use and straight forward. In addition, providing a regional portal has allowed contractors to work more easily with the various participating towns. By taking advantage of the CRCOG-ViewPoint partnership, towns have improved their interaction with their customers while receiving quality software at a considerable cost advantage.
"We look forward to working with North Haven on this project," said Nasser Hajo, ViewPoint GIS Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "ViewPermitT will greatly enhance the Town's online service offerings and reinforce its commitment to citizens and businesses."
ViewPermitT automatically manages the permit application process and review workflow for planning, conservation, zoning, building, public works, fire and health departments, in addition to a wide range of local licensing needs. Its many advanced features, such as embedded GIS, enable municipal officials to seamlessly track, control, monitor, schedule and report on all elements of permit and license issuance. It significantly reduces processing time and greatly enhances access to information while dramatically improving customer service for citizens, developers and businesses.
