Thousand Oaks, Calif., June 14, 2011VSolvit LLC has been recognized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as its 2011 Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year and 2011 Rural Development Woman Owned Small Business of the Year. VSolvit's CEO, Payal Kamdar, will accept the national awards on behalf of the company at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 22.
VSolvit is a leading geospatial and information technology consulting services and solutions to clients in government and the private sector. The young California company gained momentum in 2010 when it was awarded a five-year, $14.5-million contract to provide geospatial and information technology services to the USDA's Rural Development Agency (RD). VSolvit is designing, developing and deploying new technologies to further RD's Comprehensive Loan Program (CLP).
"I am extremely proud of the applications created for USDA RD that will enable better service for our rural communities," Ms. Kamdar said. "We hope that this project can set an example of a successful implementation of a complex system."
According to Ms. Kamdar, the applications increase visibility of RD products and services, improve the loan process and provide advanced tools to loan specialists while improving the reporting capabilities.
"We have made tremendous progress in a short span of time through transparency, accountability and collaboration with government stakeholders, VSolvit associates and partners such as Esri – and this award is the recognition of the joint success achieved," Ms. Kamdar said. "We are honored to receive this award on behalf of the entire project team and hope to continue making a positive impact for USDA, its mission and our great nation."
