Strategy and Planning
Implementing GIS is like building a house. You need a vision of the outcome and a blueprint. You need a solid foundation. You need to use quality materials in the construction and pay attention to details to be sure it stands. And you want to hire an experienced architect for the job.
During this phase, our consultants take the time to listen and learn about your organizational challenges and desired results; then we help you develop your GIS vision, strategy, and implementation plan to align with your GIS objectives. The strategic plan is the blueprint for your project and includes high-level business and functional requirements definition for your GIS solution. Implementation planning includes developing a work plan (scope, schedule, and budget), defining resource needs, identifying risks and risk responses, and specifying how quality objectives and success criteria will be met. The implementation plan also details a deployment and operations plan, the goal of which is to carefully prepare your organization for the new technology. ESRI will develop a final project management plan with your input and review. Plans are continually monitored and adjusted as needed throughout the project.
