Server GIS
Become more productive by sharing your GIS across the enterprise with focused, easy-to-use applications. Server GIS enables you to distribute your maps, models, and tools to others in your organization in a way that fits well into their workflows. Staff in other departments and in the field can query accurate, up-to-date data with minimal training. This increases their productivity as well as yours. Server-Based GIS TechnologyServer GIS complements ArcGIS Desktop by allowing GIS analysts to author cost-effective maps, globes, and geoprocessing tasks on their desktops and publish them via a server using integrated tools. GIS functions can then be delivered as services throughout the enterprise. Server GIS allows GIS capabilities to be delivered to large numbers of users over networks. Enterprise GIS users connect to central GIS servers using traditional desktop GIS as well as Web browsers, mobile computing devices, and digital appliances. ESRI server GIS is IT compliant and interoperable with other enterprise software such as customer resource management (CRM) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. It offers support for interoperability standards in the GIS domain (Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.) as well as the broader IT domain (World Wide Web Consortium [W3C]). ESRI Server ProductsArcGIS Server is ESRI's primary server GIS product. It is a complete and integrated server-based GIS that comes with out-of-the-box, end user applications and services for spatial data management, visualization, and spatial analysis. ArcGIS Image Server is a management, processing, and distribution platform for geospatial imagery that integrates with ArcGIS Server. It provides fast and open access to geospatial imagery, allowing organizations to leverage their investments in raster data. ArcIMS is widely used for GIS Web publishing to deliver maps, data, and metadata to many users on the Web. For example, ArcIMS provides browser-based access to many GIS catalog portals that enable users to publish and share geographic knowledge with other users. |
