Sometimes I need to take work home with me; may I use the software I obtained through the Home Use program to finish my work at home?
No. The purpose of the ArcGIS for Home Use program is to allow ArcGIS users the opportunity to increase their ArcGIS skills, conduct research on a personal project, or give back to society by putting their mapping expertise to work for the benefit of a local organization or a favorite charity.
I don't currently use ArcGIS at work. Do I qualify for this program?
Yes. As long as it is used for noncommercial purposes, anyone can qualify for the ArcGIS for Home Use Program.
Is Technical Support available with this program?
Only Installation Support is available with this program. This means that you may contact Technical Support within the first 90 days for help with installing the software if needed.
If I purchase ArcGIS for Home Use, would I get software updates?
Yes. You will receive any software updates that are released within your 12-month term license.
How is ArcGIS for Home Use delivered?
ArcGIS for Home Use is available as a download. Once your purchase is processed, you will receive an e-mail containing information for downloading and installing ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced and extensions. You will also receive an e-mail with instructions on accessing your ArcGIS Online account. Orders received by noon (Pacific time) will be processed the same day. Otherwise, they will be processed the next business day (Monday through Friday). If you would prefer to have media shipped to you, an additional fee of $19.95 for shipping and handling will be applied to your order at checkout.

Do I need to authorize the software before I can use it?
Yes. You need to authorize ArcGIS for Desktop software with Esri before you can begin using it. See the Authorizing your software guide for more details.

Getting Started

Can I install the ArcGIS for Desktop software on a computer that has a full version of any previous version of ArcGIS for Desktop software installed?
No. If you already have a previous version of ArcGIS for Desktop installed on your computer, you must uninstall it before installing your new ArcGIS for Desktop version. This includes any version of ArcGIS for Desktop (Basic, Standard, Advanced) and ArcGIS for Server. The only exception is ArcGIS Explorer Desktop.
