News and Events

ArcGIS Mobile is a mobile GIS platform that enables organizations to deliver geographic information system (GIS) capabilities and data from centralized application servers, providing access to GIS services over wireless networks to a range of mobile devices. ArcGIS Mobile complements ArcGIS Server and targets enterprise customers by providing mobile-based GIS functionality that includes mapping, spatial query, sketching, GPS integration, GIS editing, and wireless data access to ArcGIS Server Web services.

ArcGIS Mobile fits seamlessly into enterprise IT environment supporting service-oriented architecture (SOA), third party security, deployment and device management systems. Applications can be deployed on to Windows CE or Windows Mobile devices with the .NET Compact Framework 2.0, and Windows XP or Vista PCs with .NET Framework 2.0.

ArcGIS Mobile lets developers create centrally-managed, lightweight GIS-focused applications for mobile clients. Mobile applications powered by ArcGIS Server contribute to increased field productivity and more informed personnel.

ArcGIS Mobile features a software developer kit (SDK) that is installed as part of ArcGIS Server. It can be used to create and deploy focused mobile applications that can operate in a connected or disconnected environment. Using the SDK, developers can build geocentric applications that provide basic GIS functionality including map display and navigation, GPS support, and GIS editing. The SDK can also be used to enhance existing non-spatial line-of-business applications, such as customer relationship management and field service automation systems, with geospatial capabilities.

With ArcGIS Mobile you can

  • Utilize simple developer tools to create mobile applications customized to users' needs.
  • Make updates to the server in near real-time and instantly share with other colleagues in the field or office.
  • Easily deploy applications to various mobile devices the run Windows Mobile or desktop technologies including smartphones, Pocket PCs, and Tablet PCs.
