Bing Maps

ArcGIS users have seamless access to Bing Maps. ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Web Mapping users can directly connect to Bing Maps to enhance their GIS projects.

ArcGIS Desktop 10—Users have access to Bing Maps for directly from within the ArcMap basemap gallery at no cost for internal use.

ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1—Users must first register to access Bing Maps, and can then use Bing Maps at no cost for internal use.

To use Bing Maps in a commercial application, you must purchase a Bing Maps annual subscription.

ArcGIS Explorer—Bing Maps are included in the ArcGIS Explorer basemap gallery and are free for all ArcGIS Explorer users.

ArcPad 10—Access to Bing Maps is free for internal use.

ArcGIS Server 10—Access to Bing Maps is free for internal use with a limit of 2 million transactions per 4 cores, per year. Users must purchase an annual subscription to use Bing Maps in external applications.

ArcGIS Server 9.3.1—Users can access a built-in, free, 90-day evaluation of Bing Maps, after which an annual, transaction-based subscription can be purchased. The 90-day evaluation can be leveraged with the .NET Application Development Framework (ADF), and the Flex, JavaScript, and Microsoft Silverlight ArcGIS Web Mapping. In addition, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Web Mapping also include access to Bing Maps geocoding.

ArcGIS Web Mapping—Users of the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs who do not also have an ArcGIS Server license must purchase a subscription for Bing Maps for both internal and external use.
