Map Services

ArcGIS Online map services include basemaps, demographic, reference, and specialty maps. Use these map services to create web maps in ArcGIS Online that you can share or embed in a blog or website, or with ArcGIS for Smartphone and Tablets applications. You can also access them directly from within ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server. Developers can access them by using ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs to build web applications, or get direct REST and SOAP access to these map services if they have built their applications using other tools or APIs.

ArcGIS Online basemaps are built with content contributed by organizations around the world through the Community Maps Program.
