ArcGIS Online

Task Service: World Geocoding

ArcGIS Online World Geocoding is a set of standard, no-cost services for ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Web Mapping API users for internal and noncommercial external use. To use these geocoding services, you need ArcGIS 9.2, 9.3, or 9.3.1 or ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs.

The World Geocoding service uses the most recent commercial street data from Tele Atlas and provides address geocoding capabilities for North America (U.S. and Canada) and Europe and world place-finding capabilities, including

  • Address geocoding
  • Reverse geocoding
  • Place finding
  • Limited batch geocoding (1,000 addresses per ArcGIS Desktop user or user equivalent for ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs, per year)

Need to batch geocode more than 1,000 addresses or use this service for commercial purposes?

Purchase an annual subscription that gives you blocks of 25,000 batch geocodes per ArcGIS Desktop user or user equivalent for ArcGIS Server or ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs. This also allows you to use this service for external commercial use. You need ArcGIS 9.3 or 9.3.1 or ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs to access this version of the World Geocoding service.
