Standard Map Service: World Physical Map
World Physical Maps is a set of standard map services available at no cost for internal use (personal or within an organization) and noncommercial, external use. To use these services for commercial purposes, you must purchase an annual subscription. World Physical Map can be used with ArcGIS 9.3 Service Pack 1, and 9.3.1 and ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs.
What You Get

Basemaps
- World Physical Map—A Natural Earth map of the world; includes shaded relief, land cover, and parks
- World Topographic Map—Compiled from best available sources; includes boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, transportation, and buildings
- USA Topographic Maps—Land-cover imagery for the world and detailed topographic maps for the United States at various scales
- World Shaded Relief—Surface elevation presented as shaded relief; intended for use as a basemap layer to add shaded relief to maps
Reference Maps
- World Boundaries and Places—Country, state/province, and county or equivalent boundaries and place-names for the world; intended as an overlay for basemaps with darker backgrounds
- World Elevation—90-meter and 1-kilometer elevation data for the world; intended for 3D terrain visualization
- USA Elevation—30-meter elevation data for the contiguous United States; intended for 3D terrain visualization
- World Boundaries and Places Alternate—Country, state/province, and county or equivalent boundaries and place-names for the world; intended as an overlay for basemaps with lighter backgrounds
- World Transportation—Transportation data, including highways, roads, railroads, and airports
Specialty Maps
- World Navigation Charts—Topographic data overlaid with nautical information, including more than 200 Operational Navigation Charts across the world
