GEOInformatics Praises ArcGIS Desktop
See why ArcGIS Desktop [PDF] is key to working with spatial data content and designing workflows in the age of the GeoWeb.
What's New in 9.3.1
Take a look at the new features and tools you can use with ArcGIS Desktop 9.3.1.
ArcGIS 3D Analyst provides extensive tools to visualize geographic vector or raster data in three dimensions. You can easily drape your data over the terrain; use attributes, such as elevation, to display the data at a preset height; or use attributes to extrude the data.
In addition, users can take advantage of ArcScene and ArcGlobe, two specialized 3D viewing applications that are part of ArcGIS 3D Analyst. Both allow users to effectively manage their 3D GIS data, conduct 3D analysis, edit 3D features, create layers within 3D viewing properties, and create 3D features from existing two-dimensional data.
With ArcGlobe, users can also place spatially referenced data on a 3D globe surface. Very large amounts of data (terabytes) can easily be manipulated and visualized. ArcGlobe allows users to place their map in the context of a real-world global-to-local view.
